Ecuador: The Republic of Ecuador

The Republic of Ecuador is literally translated as Equator. It represents the South American region with borders like Peru, Pacific Ocean and Colombia. Ecuador is famous for its Galapagos island that stretches about a thousand kilometres long.

The Spanish is Ecuador’s official language. Most populations speak fluent Spanish with other languages to complement such as Shuar and Quichua. With a land of 283, 500 km2, Ecuador has a population of 15.2 million of people. As the UNESCO World Heritage site, Ecuador has historical values and preserved lands with capital city in Quito. The economy is developed well in the island, making it one of the best countries with an outstanding example.

The rich history value in Ecuador includes their rare species with diverse of animals. The ecosystem is vast and legally protected by the government. As the republic, the Ecuador territory can be traced back during the Inca empire. Ecuador was not an independent country until the Spanish colonial empire ended in 1830.

Prior to the landing of the Incas, the zone was settled by different people groups. Some feasible cruised to Ecuador by flatboats from Central America, others came to Ecuador through the Amazon tributaries, others plunged from northern South America, and others rose from the southern piece of South America through the Andes or by cruising on pontoons. They created diverse dialects while developing as interesting ethnic gatherings.

These gatherings created comparative societies, despite the fact that their dialects were random, in light of the fact that they existed in the same environment. The Inca empire began early where the Valvidia culture and Machalila settled at the coastal area. The tribes were groups of family that became big communities. The Andes mountain was packed with villagers with main source of income in agricultural sectors.

Inca tribes arrived and built their empire. There were many loyal Inca that were brought to the island to protect the people from rebellious act. Inca empire had the same language as most Ecuadors.

The Spaniards arrival had caused Inca to move. After being defeated, the area was divided into two, the Peru’s and Ecuador’s.

During the European invasion, there were diseases among the population. They had no immunity hence many were deceased due to infection. The Spanish colony inhabited the area for more than 300 years. And after several fights, the Ecuador was finally moved to Spanish America. After a long discussion, wars and rebellions, Ecuador finally a democratic country with a president served as the controller. The election is via voting and it is compulsory for the citizen at the age of 18 to 65 to choose their president.

Ecuador’s climate

As the country is situated at the equator, the daylight can be very hot during the hours. The variation of climate throughout the year consists of humid subtropical and mild in the valleys. Whereas the rainy season in the highlands is dry. The rainforest zone contains tropical forest similar to the lowland’s.

Due to the varieties of temperature, Ecuador is a home to more than 1,500 species of birds. The megadiverse endemic includes the plants and reptiles plus butterflies and amphibians that settle in Galapagos. Darwin’s theory of flora and fauna was found here in Ecuador.

Geographical information

With a vast area of 283,500 km2, Ecuador lies at the west of Pacific Ocean and there are 4 regions of this country.

La Sierra

La Sierra is the highland of Ecuador with Andean provinces of Imbabura, Tungurahua, Azuay and more. The volcanoes are active with snow at their peaks. The agricultural crops are potatoes, popular seeds of quinoas, and maize.

La Region Insular

The area of Galapagos that stretches at the mainland of Pacific Ocean

La Amazonia

The Oriente is the jungle with several provinces of pastaza, Zamora, Morona Santiago and Sucumbios. Made up from large forests, there are national parks and tribes that still live a traditional way in the jungle. The preservation area also holds petroleum in the country. There are diverse population of indigenous tribes with less contact to modern life.

La costa

La Costa is the coastal area of Ecuador at the western of Andean. It consists of several parts, El Oro, Los rios, Santa Elena, Esmeraldas, and Manabi. The soil is fertile at La Costa with bananas as their largest plant source to export. The rice crop grows heavily at the area with some fishermen working at the coasts.

Industrial sectors

Ecuador becomes a modernized country with lots of industrial sectors ranging from textiles to mining, oil refinement to chemical refinement. There are also high water development that has been worked by the country to support their financial sector. Many pharmaceutical products are increased and the agricultural industry is one of the largest in the country.

Whale watching

With the whale migrations every year, you can witness the whales as they swim near you. Puerto Lopez is the only area to spot the humpback whales around June to September

Cycling and hiking

With the Andes peak giving you such wonderful panorama, why not try the cycling experience up in the mountain. Let the heart pumping experience be unforgettable. The high altitude andes is famous for the hiking trail. The plateaus are covered with greeneries and stunning panorama.

Indian Market
