Bora Bora - a Pacific fairy tale

It's impossible not to fall in love with the charm of Bora Bora Island. It is one of the most amazing places, located in the neighbourhood of Tahiti, striking a delightful picturesque nature, which like a magnet attracts holidaymakers from all over the world.

Bora Bora is the 2nd largest island in French Polynesia, covering an area of about 38 km2. It ranks among the most beautiful islands located in the Pacific expanse. There are many tiny islands surrounding Bora Bora, but the stunning pearlescent lagoon, fabulous coral reefs and impressive mountain ranges await holidaymakers only on Bora Bora. In addition, it offers excellent conditions for a full and quality holiday. The island has an excellent reputation and is renowned for its unique Polynesian-style resorts.

What are the special features of Bora Bora?

The island territory is embraced by a lagoon that shimmers with different colours, and the surrounding tiny patches of land in the ocean make the picture even more impressive. Bora Bora seems to be wrapped in a coral necklace of neighbouring islets, which are scattered in a chaotic order on the water surface. One of these territories has an airport, and many others have been used for the construction of hotels with cosy bungalows. The accommodation offered to holidaymakers is both on land and built directly on the water, using the piling methodology.

On the territory of the second largest island there are 2 volcanic peaks, which can be admired regardless of the location. One of them is named Otemanu and the other is called Pahia. The highest point of these peaks reaches a height of 727 metres.

Another feature that instantly catches the eye of holidaymakers is the amazing nature, as well as clear waters, from the surface of which you can see the bottom of the ocean. This resort is perfect for a romantic, secluded holiday. Each of the hotels has its own beaches filled with snow-white sand. Swimming pools are also offered to guests. It is worth noting that everyone can visit any beach they like, regardless of which hotel they are staying in. There are no private beaches on the territory of Bora Bora, and access to recreational areas is open to everyone.

Unique attractions of Bora Bora

The island has many interesting places for tourists. They can visit Mount Pahia. It is slightly smaller than Otemanu and is completely accessible to those who wish to visit it. According to legend, the formidable god of war, using a rainbow, descended from the top of this mountain to the earth. The road to it is decorated with picturesque orchards, fern jungles and thickets of colourful orchids. Nearby is Otemanu. On this mountain, according to locals, no one has yet been able to visit.

Pahia is also interesting for its magnificent viewing platforms. From four places, those wishing to visit can see a magnificent panorama of a turquoise lagoon, a serene ocean surface and a coral reef, emphasising the beauty of the surrounding landscape. If tourists wish to visit this place, the accompanying guides will show the most convenient routes, and lead to the sites that offer the most beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Also, most foreigners visit the Lagunarium. This is one of the most famous attractions on the island. It was built by the local population over a long period of time, during which several generations have changed. Lagunarium is a part of the ocean, fenced off from the rest of the water with a special network. All the hotels in Bora Bora are located near it, and the views are magnificent.

Here you can see the most incredible and mysterious inhabitants of the underwater world and even swim in their company. Huge turtles, stingrays of astonishing size, barracudas and other species of sharks are just a small part of the Lagunarium's "inhabitants".

Next to this attraction is the Le Meridien Resort Hotel, which gladly welcomes all visitors.

Fans of beautiful underwater scenery are invited to visit the Coral Garden. A walk through this place will give them an unforgettable experience. The Coral Garden is located in a colourful lagoon, where among the picturesque coral thickets, swim the most exotic fish, amazed by the variety of colours, sizes and shapes. At the edge of the reef you can see all the sea creatures and even the bottom, and in a few metres you can see the vast expanse of the ocean with its mysteries and mysterious inhabitants.

Those wishing to get closer to the sea animals can visit the far corner of the lagoon. This is where the "Stingray Road" is located. It is famous for the presence of huge stingrays and sharks. Especially brave tourists can jump off the boat and swim with them. It is especially interesting to "socialise" with stingrays. They can be tickled, stroked and even fed. Brown sharks, which are up to two metres long, are more cautious when in contact with people, whom they are a little wary of, although you can feed these animals too.

Stingrays and sharks in this place of the lagoon are considered absolutely safe for people, but every "communication" with these ocean inhabitants is monitored by instructors who control the whole process.

Fans of more comfortable underwater journeys can take advantage of a unique opportunity - to make a short trip on a capsize, which is available at the vessel "Aquascope". It resembles a miniature submarine that can accommodate about 10 people. Passengers who decide to take a ride on it will be able to admire coral reefs and get a closer look at the life of numerous sea creatures: turtles, dolphins, various fish and even sharks.

This is just a small part of the attractions and interesting opportunities available to all visitors to the amazing island of Bora Bora.
