Fiji is a developed tourist state
The most developed island state of Oceania in terms of tourism is the Republic of Fiji, located on the archipelago of the same name. Nature has provided all the opportunities for the development of tourism: more than 300 islands delight the eye with turquoise lagoons, gorgeous beaches, uplands with evergreen vegetation. Of all the islands only 100 are inhabited, on the rest people do not live.
The only disadvantages of vacation in Fiji can be considered its high cost and too long flight with transit visas, with many transfers and overnight stays. But these difficulties can only add spice to the stay in Fiji, making such a vacation the domain of the most courageous and wealthy tourists, ready to go to overcome any obstacles for the sake of a trip that will give the richest memories.
Fiji Islands
Most of the islands are volcanic in origin and are characterized by dissected mountainous terrain. The smaller islands are usually coral structures held on a volcanic base.
The main islands of the Republic of Fiji are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, Ovalau, Mamanuca and Yasawa.
The private island of Denarau, which has a very small area, has 2 hotels and a golf club. Denarau is separated from Viti Levu by a narrow channel and a bridge for cars.
Vatulele Island has endless beaches and groves of palm trees. On its territory there are 12 luxurious villas, standing at some distance from each other, and having at their disposal their own stretches of beach.
Vakaia Island can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests per stay. This location is ideal for honeymooners seeking privacy, families seeking a quiet vacation, or small groups of friends.
There is an exclusive resort in Fiji - it is the island of Womo, where visitors are waiting for 30 luxury villas Sheraton chain.
Yasawa is recognized as the best island for weddings. Wedding ceremonies here are unrealistically beautiful, so there are quite a few newlyweds who want to get married in Fiji.
There is only one hotel on each of the islands of Mamanuca.
Taveuni Island is surrounded by unique reefs, thanks to which Fiji is known as the soft coral capital of the world.
When is the best time to travel to Fiji
The best time to travel to Fiji is between April and October. During this time, even at night, the air temperature never drops below +20°C. It often rains at night, providing life-giving moisture for the abundant vegetation, while during the day the sun shines brightly in the sky. It can also rain during the day, after which a magnificent rainbow appears over the ocean.
What to do while in Fiji
On Ovalau, tourists go to see Levuka, the ancient capital of Fiji and the center of whaling in the nineteenth century. No less fascinating will be a trip to the village of Lovoni, located in the crater of a dormant volcano. Flower lovers can visit the "Garden of the Sleeping Giant", which spreads at the foot of the Sabeto Mountains - there is a lot of exotic tropical vegetation, several thousand varieties of various orchids. Colorful ethnic markets, where you can buy a lot of exotic souvenirs, await visitors to Lautoka.
What can those tourists who prefer an intellectual vacation do? They will be interested to visit the Museum of Fiji, located in the city of Suva - there are archaeological collections, many exhibits of which are more than 3000 years old. The famous burial site of Ratu Udre Udre is a unique tomb of the native chief of cannibals, who ate 999 people!
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the diving conditions in Fiji, which can be practiced year-round. You can also go rafting, when you have to raft down the rivers on a bamboo raft "bilibili". Tourists can go kayaking, water skiing, underwater hunting and surfing.

Transportation in Fiji
There are no highways or cars on the smaller islands, as there is simply nowhere to go. Left-hand drive roads are only on the larger islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. If you want to rent a car, you will need to show your international driver's license and passport.
To be able to move to different islands, the best solution is to rent a boat.
