WAE DC CW Contest 2009 Results

When I recently heard that the CQ Contest Committee would not consider Single Operator One Radio (SO1R) as a separate category, I was very disappointed and asked myself why do I have to compete in the same category where a vast majority of contesters are using two radio's.

To me SO1R and SO2R are essentially the same - both are true single op - SO2R is just a single op station that is more complicated and sophisticated and harder to BUILD.

Hello contesters! I red many emails about this subject and I recognize that many contesters somehow missed a point. Let's be focused on basic issues, not going deeply in details.

I think the assisted category should not been introduced in first place. I think that it is good idea to merge the assisted and not-assisted back into one category.

SO category combination advocates have always been complaining that nobody really makes any valuable proposals but they forget that nobody had really been asked.

I have received a lot of messages showing resentment of the leading contesters by the fact the SO category elimination is still being discussed by the CQ WW CC. Also, I have received some messages from the CQ WW CC members.

Well, guys from the CQ WW Contest Committee grew sad and retracted into their Diogenes’s reflector. They do not know that it also has ears for a very long time already. In fact, they are curious where 4L5A gets information from.

QUESTION: Will the CQ CONTEST COMMITTEE open its closed discussions of the fate of Single Operator categories to the public or will we first learn of them when the rules are changed?

Probably not many of us know that there is a group named "Diogenes" among the CQWW CC. Its members include K3EST, K1EA, KR2Q, CT1BOH, ES5TV, K1AR, N8BJQ, W3ZZ, N6AA, K1HT, S50A.

I have had a lot of talks with the number of contesters and the indignation with the CQWW CC policies getting stronger.

Once Crawfish, Swan and Pike Set out to pull a loaded cart, And all together settled in the traces; They pulled with all their might, but still the cart refused to budge!

Despite the fact that the observer program only started with CQ WW DX CW 2009, the contest results promise to be very interesting.
